Sprucing up the back patio!

Let me just give you a little background.
 I have a regular full time job as a Design Manager for a local development company, but I also kept my part-time job that I had while in school. That being the lovely retail store, Tuesday Morning Inc. I've been there for 11 years and counting, holy cow! Let's face it, and call it how it really is: I only work there for my discount. For real. End of story. Trust me, no retail job will ever help pay the bills. I spend way more than I make, easily.

Anyway, this part-time job helps me find DEAL OF THE CENTURIES and this post is about one of them!

I have been looking for 2 Adirondack chairs for probably 2 months now and I almost bought them from World Market a couple of days ago for $70.99 + 10% off.

Thanks goodness I didn't! When I went in to work on Sunday, my manager said she found some chairs in the back that she thought I might want. {This is the great thing about working there for so long, they know my style!} She said they are marked down to $79.99 then 60% off!!!! ummm... I don't even need to see them, I'll take 'em! THEN, then she said "On Tuesday they will be 80% off!" uhhh plus my discount! OMG I was about to fall over right there! Seriously, Tuesday took forever to come! I was like a kid on Christmas morning! I even went on my lunch break to go pick them up! Oh course I bought a lamp too.

My total? oh, my total... you want to know?
HA I left the store paying a whopping $47.48

Lamp- Orig $39.99, I paid $19.19
Adirondack Chairs- Orig $119.99, I paid $12.80 each {warning: this is not a typo}

Deal of the century I tell ya! They are a really nice quality, wooden, perfect size, oh and they even FOLD to store away in the winter! Perfect.

Green Geometric Cushions

Threshold from Target

You can't live in the South and not have a fern! It's pretty much against the law. {joking}

This tree we planted 2 Springs ago and it is HUGE!

Bailey wouldn't leave me alone as I was taking pictures. Typical.

Who doesn't love succulent plants?

NEXT TASK? Paint the back door yellow!

Anthropologie VS World Maket

If you have a desk job, you understand those times when you drift off into surfing the internet land. It happens to me way more often than it probably should. Shhh don't tell! I need some kind of entertainment while I'm at work!

I just can't help but do this. I hate when two stores basically sell the same things and one marks up their prices dramatically! Here are some of the similar finds at two totally different prices! Anthropologie is on the left and World Market is on the right...you choose!

Playing With Vinyl

Over the past few weeks, I have purchased several vinyl decals from Etsy.
Here is my journey of transforming a few items around the house!

I bought a Martha Stewart Vintage Canister, but it came in with "SUGAR" and I was expecting "COFFEE." I got it on sale and used a coupon, so I thought, "I'm just going to make lemonade out of these lemons!" The back side of this canister is blank, so I turned it around and ordered a "COFFEE" vinyl in yellow!

I've never applied a vinyl decal before, but OMG it is super easy!
So easy, I attempted more projects all in the same night!

The BF always, I mean always is asking "Have you seen my keys anywhere?"
So, here is the solution I came up with.

We ventured out to Peddlers Mall {my favorite place} and I was on the lookout for 2 things: one being an oblong or rectangular white dish. Found this beauty for $2!!

Added the key decals and voilĂ !

The other thing I was on the lookout for at Peddlers Mall was a cup, pitcher or mug that I could put my makeup brushes in. This task was harder than I thought because it needed to be the right height and have enough room for all of my brushes.

OK, so she needs a little work....

 So, spray painting I go...

So cute, right?
And SO easy!!

Makeover

OK, so maybe it's not a makeover...it's more like an overdue clean up. {wink}
I know, I know...it's really bad!

My thinking behind putting the tray on the bed was: If it is there, then I at least don't have the whole bed to put my clothes on. Or maybe if it looks pretty, I won't mess it up [doubt it]. The problem is this is where I get dressed in the mornings and change in the evenings. I tend to rush and lay throw my clothes on the bed and go on to the next thing. I am literally always late! We will see how long this will last.

{See the tag still on the flowers? I'm really bad about this}

Lanterns are some kind of obsession I have. And BOOKS...love books!
REAL books are the best interior accessory. It's like jewelry to fashion. I absolutely go for previously "loved" books. My favorite place is Half Price Books or I buy books on clearance at Tuesday Morning (one of my many jobs).

I wanted to mix a couple of colors/patterns/textures, but I am definitely in the market for a patterned pillow of some sort! Below are a few options that caught my eye.

Do you have a favorite? Comment and help me decide!

This closet will be my next undertaking. I let the BF take the master closet because he was in the house before me, so I took the two guest closets and every door to hang organizers on. :)

So. here's what I'm thinking for the new organization of this closet. Bookcases for my shoes..boots probably on the floor.. and I really want one of those clothes valets so I can set my outfit out the night before.
Oh, and this cute ladder {OMG totally doing this!}

I will hopefully have some "after" pictures soon.

Fresh Flowers

I will admit...I am a HUGE addict of The Real Housewives. Mainly Atlanta and Beverly Hills, but I watch them all. The new age Martha Stewart, Yolanda Foster, is on Beverly Hills and she literally has inspired me. Weird, I know.
Here's her blog
She's real, she actually does her own cooking, she grows her own food & flowers and she worships her husband everyday like the day they got married!

I mean seriously, look at her refrigerator! That alone is inspiring!

But let me bring you back to reality. Most of us don't have that kind of money, but I will say: keeping fresh flowers in your home, or at least when you have company over, is a MUST! It brings some sort of cleanliness and richness to your home. Most of the time you can get a dozen flowers from $8-$12. Trust me, it is so worth it!

Yellow Tulips {My Favorite!}
White Hydrangeas
Yellow Mix of Flowers
"Managers Special" for $7!
Pink Tulips
Yellow Double Delight Roses
 Aren't they just refreshing?
I dare you to just try it once.
